Yule Logs

BY Diane Lowrey

Ingredients Mom's post-Depression-era original, now well over half a century old. If you're in hard times, try it. If you're not, give thanks!

6 slices bread
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon horseradish
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
Dash salt, pepper, red pepper
1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
2 tablespoons fresh parsley
Serves 3 people; double, triple amounts to serve more
Trim crusts from bread slices; place bread on waxed paper, cover with waxed paper. Roll slices thin with rolling pin. Spread slices with mixture of other ingredients combined. Roll up each slice firmly. Roll in melted butter and paprika. Secure with toothpicks if necessary. Toast in 425-degree oven for 15 minutes. Watch it carefully, she warned, lest it burn. She also added you can vary the ingredients, using your favorites, and make it all your own. Enjoy!
